North Regional Coaches

16 North Coach - Lauren Durbin

Lauren Durbin is in her third year with Metro American VBC. The last two years Lauren coached the 16 North team, which she will continue to head coach this year.

Lauren began her volleyball career at Grace Academy (1999-2002) where she was first team All-County and All-Area her junior and senior years. Her high school also finished 1st in conference, 3 out of her 4 years playing. She also played club volleyball for Washington County Juniors (2000-2003) where she competed in the Junior Olympics for her club’s 16’s travel team in Salt Lake City , Utah.

Lauren then went on to play for Shepherd University (2003-2007) as their middle hitter. She was 2nd team all-conference and captain her senior year. She earned her Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and a minor in Economics.

Lauren has been working as a Senior Financial Analyst with Sodexo for over two years. 

14 North Head Coach - Eric Couch

Eric Couch is in his 4th year coaching with Metro American Volleyball Club. For the 2009/2010 season, Eric will be our 14 North Head Coach. Eric has also had coaching experience with the Husky Volleyball Club in Hartford, Connecticut from 2004-2006.
 
Eric attended Virginia Tech for his undergraduate and graduate degrees (a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering) and played club volleyball while attending there. His club team at Virginia Tech placed 5th at NIRSA Nationals in 1999.
 
Eric is married to Brandie (his assistant coach) and they are expecting their first child in January!

14 North Assistant Coach - Brandie Couch

Brandie Couch has been coaching with MAVBC since 2007. She started with the 16 North Regional team and then coached the 14 North Regional team in 2008 and 2009. Brandie is currently coaching the 14 North Regional team again this year. With allof these teams, she has placed 2nd in several tournaments.
Brandie started out her volleyball career at Patrick Henry High School (1996-1999) in Ashland, Virginia. She then went on to play club volleyball at Virginia Tech (2001-2003), where she earned her bachelors degree in marketing management.
Brandie began assistant coaching for Christiansburg Middle School (2002-2004) in Christiansburg, Virginia. After moving to Connecticut, she took head coaching positions at Manchester High School (2004-2006) and Husky Volleyball Club (2004-2005).
Brandie and Eric are looking forward to the arrival of their first child in January.

 

13 North Head Coach - Claudia Lapcevich

Claudia is in her 5th year coaching with Metro American Volleyball Club.   For the 2009/2010 season, she will be coaching our 13 North team. 
 
Currently, Claudia is the head varsity coach at Urbana High School, where she has been coaching since 2005. Her team was the Regional finalists in 2007 and they currently have the most regular season wins in Urbana school history.
 
Claudia began her volleyball career at The Academy of the Holy Cross. She then went on to play club volleyball for Virginia Tech, where she earned a B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Microbiology.
 
Claudia has been a Technical Sales/Account Manager for the past 10 years. She is married to Randy and has two children, Stefan and Cassie. She is addicted to spin classes, P90X and competing in triathlons; plus she enjoys cooking and entertaining.

13 North Assistant Coach - Marsha Duncan

Marsha Duncan is in her second season with Metro American Volleyball Club. In the past, she coached with the 12’s team but will be assistant coaching the 13 North team this year. 
 
Marsha began her volleyball career at Boonsboro High School. While there, her team won the state championships twice.
 
She then went on to Frederick Community College and St. Mary’s College of Maryland where her team won the JUCO Championship her freshman year. Marsha earned her AA Degree and BA Degree in Political Science and Public Policy.
 
Marsha currently works for the Office for Children and Families in Frederick County. Her and her husband, Jamie, have spent many years working with high-risk youth and currently run a charitable organization called S.A.M.’s Kids. Marsha has one daughter, Kiley, who plays for Metro VBC.
