 After taking a few years off, Joe Moyer is back coaching with Metro American VBC. This year he will be the head coach for the 15 Travel team.

Joe is a very valuable asset to our club as he comes in with 18 years of various coaching experiences. Currently, Joe is the Assistant Coach at the University of Maryland but he has also held coaching positions at Montgomery College and American University, including summer camp coaching with James Madison, Pittsburg and Ball State.

Joe began his volleyball career in this area, playing Co-ed Volleyball for Wootton High School. He went on to set for Ball State University, where he had three Final Four Appearances. Then Joe went on to set for Reston Volleyball Club where he had three “Open” Final Fours. In 1995, he won the US Open Gold Medal and All-American in the Silver Division.

While at Ball State University, Joe earned a B.S. in the School of Journalism with a double minor in business school, marketing and counseling psychology.  Joe is married and has two children.

Sarah Jankowitz will be assistant coaching with Joe Moyer on Metro American Volleyball Club’s 15 Travel team this year. 

Sarah began her volleyball career at Sparta High School where she was both the captain and the MVP her junior and senior years. During that time, she also played for Allegro Volleyball Club in Northern New Jersey.

Sarah then went on to attend American University where her team won the Patriot League and went on to play in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament all three years that she played. While at American University, Sarah earned her degree in International Studies.

Currently Sarah is searching for a job before hopefully beginning law school this fall. In her spare time she likes to draw, paint and read as much as possible.
